Doug Phillips Resigned, Martyrs Himself

Yes. You heard me right. Doug Phillips, the man behind Vision Forum, "engaged in a lengthy, inappropriate relationship with a woman," and thanks God for his mercy and love, asking for all of us to pray for him and his family.

I will write more on this soon, but, suffice it to say that, while I am orbitally elated at the news, I am also livid beyond words. I'm sitting here, smoking out of my ears.

In the entire 4-paragraph resignation post, Phillips doesn't show ANY MEASURE of concern for the woman he may have harmed. Nor does he ask people to pray for her.

Nope. He doesn't give a shit. He's more interested in the MEN that are going to be running his gig. AND that he's going to still be a "foot soldier" for his god.

I can't begin to convey the heat of my wrath right now. Phillips has overplayed his male chauvinistic, woman  hating hand.

  1. I feel much the same way. He is so arrogant to not even mention ruining the life of the woman he's had an affair with. I also feel for his wife and kids who will have to put up with his "authority" despite his issues. :P

  2. I worry that Vision Forum followers may blame the "other woman" or Phillips' wife while exonerating Phillips himself. We've seen that sort of thinking with other high-profile affairs, and I hope we don't see it with this debacle.

Phillips' hypocrisy stuns me. A man who made his career by glorifying marriage and the family failed to uphold the sanctity of his own marriage and family.

  3. Read the resignation carefully. Douggie never admitted to a physical relationship, ergo Beal has no grounds for a biblical divorce. Like Haggard he will be redeemed at a later day. I wonder two things. How big was his severance package and what does Bill Gothard have to say? The sheeple will continue to buy VF junk and the Duggars will continue to promote it. Lather, rinse, repeat.

  4. Biblically, lust is considered infidelity so cheating, whether or not in included penetration is still Biblical grounds for divorce.

  5. And that's the sick beauty of living their version of a "biblical" lifestyle. Rather the bible gives a wife in such situations an out or not, the life they have chosen pretty much gives her a prison sentence regardless.

They promise not to take those biblical outs in word and dead most times....they promise to keep their women (and daughters) dumb so that if you don't stay with your "authority" you certainly don't have the skills needed to get a good enough job to take care of the 8, 10, or 50 kids you produced. If she had a perfectly good out, even biblical by their measure....what on Earth will she do to house, feed, clothe all those kids...without the whole support system that she has leaned on for so long who will of course side with mister "repentant" and bash her for not forgiving him and becoming a "white-washed feminist".

That's what I hate about these groups/ cults/ factions or whatever you call them. People paint themselves into a prison before they even realize it and are guilted out of logic for fear of being like the world. A good woman is a totally dependent woman so that when her husband screws her over, all she CAN do is stand by him and convince herself that God just wants her to forgive and stay.
