Daily Debate: August 16, 2011

Which internet browser on which operating system do you use and why?

As a programmer, I enjoy Firefox for its plug-ins.  I like Internet Explorer for its crisp UI as well as the ability to harness ancient ActiveX technologies.  I haven't much gotten into Google Chrome but I like some of its features.  The new Pinned Ap Tabs are more than sweet in Firefox.

I freaking HATE Safari.

You?

  1. Safari. Because it came on my MacBook and I'm too un-geeky to think about finding something else.

  2. Download Firefox for Mac. Firefox.com. So much better for you. Also, any website that utilizes iframes will work better on the Mac firefox browser. Safari is unnecessarily over-securitized.

  3. I love Chrome; we all use it here. Safari is not even on the radar.

  4. I use Safari and have not had any problems. I use Firefox for certain things and I hate Chrome.

  5. I'm not a huge fan of Chrome either, amulbunny. Beka...I'm with you all the way.

  6. Firefox first, then IE. I'm not all that red hot familiar with Chrome, but my kids like it.

So far with Chrome? I'm not all that impressed personally.

  7. I used to swear by Firefox, but Chrome won me over. It's lickety-fast,even on a weak connection, and it doesn't hog all my memory.

  8. Even with the new pinned ap tabs? Actually, with those tabs, on a weak connection, loading all of those pages really bottlenecks the resources.

I might give Chrome a try. But, seeing as I have been with the same cell phone company (through 3 mergers) for 10 years, its like trying to turn a battleship in a pond.

  9. Chrome - Firefox wouldn't even open on my puter after a while and IE just craps up my hard drive.

  10. Looks like someone needs to run a program called Cleanup! (the '!' actually matters). Then run the cleaner on CCleaner and then the Registry Fix on that same tool.

After that is done, run Malwarebytes free scan.

All this is free. I charge $35 an hour to fix computers and all my tools are free.

One note: If Google was not with us, I would know nothing.

  11. I use Chrome. I've tried IE and Firefox and just like Chrome better. Plus I have this cool purple butterfly pattern as my border and that makes me happy. :D

  12. Firefox all the way! Has too many cool plugins I can't live without. Which is the reason I don't care for Chrome and Safari...doesn't have the plugins I can't live without. I abhor IE though...it's a web developer's nightmare. At least it's kinda-sorta-slowly getting better.
